A Freaky Flickers story
Peter Gantner is an inventor that lives in Phoenix Arizona. He wanted to invent a new toy so he started the process of thinking to come up with a unique idea. He decided he wanted to reinvent the game piece you know what Game pieces are right. Dice, jacks, marbles, the little house in monopoly basically any thing you use to play games with. So he started to research all the past games (History is part of the invention process) to see what already existed.

Where do you think he did his research? Toy stores, books, internet and library. But after several months he didn’t have any ideas he liked. I call it having a brain freeze. Do any of you ever have brain freezes?

What do you do to get rid of your brain freeze? Answer-Take a break. That’s what Peter did he packed all his research in a box and put it away. Then 2 months later he was out for a walk and an idea just popped in to his head. Do you ever have ideas just pop in to your head? Answer: Yes WOW you forget things, have brain freezes and have ideas just pop in your head that means you have what it takes to be inventor. His idea was that during his research he noticed that most game pieces where made of hard materials wood, plastic, stones and even animal bones. Refer to: A matter of fact there’s a game called astragals that was played over two thousand years ago where kids would dry out there sheep bones from dinner then paint them and play games with them. This gives playing with your food a hole new meaning. What do you think your mom would say if you started playing with your left overs after dinner tonight? He also found some games that used rubber balls. So he decided that he would combine the two together making a new game piece which was both made of hard material as well as rubber like the ball. So he went home and made his first proto type. Show sample of what the first proto type looked like. The next day he contacted his partner and brother David Gantner to help him develop his Idea. This is called brain storming.

Do you ever use Brain Storming? How long do you think it took to invent Freaky Flickers once Peter came up with the Idea?Answer:one year to invent it and another year to get it completed to sell. Why do you think it took so long? Answer: The first one he made didn’t work right a matter of fact the first several hundred didn’t work. Who thinks that would be frustrating? Well it was but he did not let it stop him. How many of you quit when you get frustrated? Well since he didn’t quit he finally invented five types that worked. The reason there where five is they do different things the bouncers, rocker, spin, slide and block.
